Frequent, intermittent loss of wireless connection.  Appears to be related to IP address issues
I am having trouble with my wireless connection but only from home. The laptop connects immediately but seems to routinely loose the connection even though the signal strength is excellent. It appears as though the IP address gets lost regularly during a connection and constantly needs to be renewed. I have been connected wirelessly without any trouble at a coffee shop for the last couple of hours. I only get disconnected when I am at home. Is it possible that it is security related?Any help would be greatly appreciated.I checked the IP address confirguration and received the following message: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600](C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. C:\Documents and Settings\Winuser>ipconfig Windows IP Configuration An internal error occurred: A device attached to the system is not functioning. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help. Additional information: Unknown media status code. C:\Documents and Settings\Winuser>I also ran the Network diagnostic tool and received the following notification:Network Adapters FAILED [00000002] Cisco Systems PCI Wireless LAN Adapter Caption = [00000002] Cisco Systems PCI Wireless LAN Adapter DatabasePath = %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc Description = Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection - Packet Scheduler Miniport DHCPEnabled = TRUE DNSEnabledForWINSResolution = FALSE DNSHostName = IBM-CCD92CC0547 DomainDNSRegistrationEnabled = FALSE FullDNSRegistrationEnabled = TRUE Index = 2 IPConnectionMetric = 1 IPEnabled = TRUE IPFilterSecurityEnabled = FALSE IPSecPermitIPProtocols = 0 IPSecPermitTCPPorts = 0 IPSecPermitUDPPorts = 0 IPXEnabled = FALSE MACAddress = 00:11:25:47:81:6E ServiceName = PCX504 SettingID = {4B4A6905-63A0-4E1F-BCB0-6346ACF583AB} TcpipNetbiosOptions = 0 TcpWindowSize = 64512 WINSEnableLMHostsLookup = TRUE [00000011] Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection Caption = [00000011] Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection DatabasePath = %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc Description = Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection - Packet Scheduler Miniport DHCPEnabled = TRUE DHCPLeaseExpires = 6:31:30 PM 9/30/2009 DHCPLeaseObtained = 5:31:30 PM 9/30/2009 DNSEnabledForWINSResolution = FALSE DNSHostName = IBM-CCD92CC0547 DomainDNSRegistrationEnabled = FALSE FullDNSRegistrationEnabled = TRUE Index = 11 IPConnectionMetric = 1 IPEnabled = TRUE IPFilterSecurityEnabled = FALSE IPSecPermitIPProtocols = 0 IPSecPermitTCPPorts = 0 IPSecPermitUDPPorts = 0 IPXEnabled = FALSE MACAddress = 00:11:25:47:81:6E ServiceName = E1000 SettingID = {8FD85EC6-0D7D-4F3F-B970-1DD968C12A1F} TcpipNetbiosOptions = 0 TcpWindowSize = 64512 WINSEnableLMHostsLookup = TRUE [00000013] Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter (FAILED)Caption = [00000013] Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter DatabasePath = %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc DefaultIPGateway = 10.29.21.254(Same Subnet) (PASSED)Pinging 10.29.21.254 with 32 bytes of data:Reply from 10.29.21.254: bytes=32 time=8ms TTL=8Reply from 10.29.21.254: bytes=32 time=6ms TTL=6Reply from 10.29.21.254: bytes=32 time=6ms TTL=6Reply from 10.29.21.254: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=2Ping statistics for 10.29.21.254:Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss)Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:Minimum = 2ms, Maximum = 8ms, Average = 5msDescription = Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter - Packet Scheduler Miniport DHCPEnabled = TRUE DHCPLeaseExpires = 3:56:37 PM 11/6/2009 DHCPLeaseObtained = 2:56:37 PM 11/6/2009 DHCPServer = 1.1.1.1 (PASSED)Pinging 1.1.1.1 with 32 bytes of data:Reply from 1.1.1.1: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=1Reply from 1.1.1.1: bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=3Reply from 1.1.1.1: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=2Reply from 1.1.1.1: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=2Ping statistics for 1.1.1.1:Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss)Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:Minimum = 1ms, Maximum = 3ms, Average = 2msDNSDomain = ahcguestnet.com DNSEnabledForWINSResolution = FALSE DNSHostName = IBM-CCD92CC0547 DNSServerSearchOrder = 167.177.96.225 (FAILED)Pinging 167.177.96.225 with 32 bytes of data:Request timed out.Request timed out.Request timed out.Request timed out.Ping statistics for 167.177.96.225:Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss)3 people need an answerI do too
